Karachi Hit by Moderate to Heavy Rainfall for Second Consecutive Day

The city of Karachi continued to experience moderate to heavy rainfall during the reporting period, marking the second consecutive day of unsettled weather, with authorities maintaining alerts amid ongoing impacts from a preceding storm.

Rainfall was recorded across multiple areas of the city, including Orangi Town, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Lyari, Clifton, and Saddar, with some locations also reporting hail and strong winds.

The latest spell of rain followed a severe thunderstorm that struck the city a day earlier, resulting in significant casualties and structural damage. Officials confirmed that multiple fatalities occurred due to wall and roof collapses, while several individuals were injured in weather-related incidents.

Authorities stated that rescue operations were carried out in affected areas, including Baldia Town and Landhi, where buildings collapsed under the impact of heavy rain and strong winds.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department indicated that the current weather conditions are being driven by a westerly weather system, which is affecting large parts of Sindh. Officials warned that further rain, thunderstorms, and possible hailstorms are expected in Karachi and surrounding districts in the coming days.

Additional districts, including Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, and Sukkur, were also forecast to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, with the possibility of lightning strikes at isolated locations.

Despite the continued rainfall, no major new incidents or casualties were reported during the current observation window. Authorities emphasized that all damage and casualty figures largely reflect the impact of the initial storm, with the situation stabilizing under ongoing monitoring.

Officials advised residents to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel, and remain alert as the weather system persists. Emergency and municipal teams remained on standby to respond to any further developments.

The situation remains under close observation, with weather conditions expected to remain unstable as the system continues to influence the region.
