YouTube TV, DirecTV subscribers face September 8 deadline for $50m Disney settlement

Subscribers who used YouTube TV or DirecTV Stream during the eligible period have until September 8, 2026 to submit claims for a share of a $50 million class-action settlement involving The Walt Disney Company.

The settlement stems from an antitrust lawsuit alleging that Disney engaged in practices that contributed to higher prices for streaming live pay-TV services. Disney has denied wrongdoing but agreed to the partial settlement.

Who is eligible for the settlement?

The settlement covers people who purchased a YouTube TV subscription or a DirecTV streaming live pay-TV subscription between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2026. DirecTV Stream, DirecTV Now and AT&T TV Now subscriptions are included.

Eligible subscribers can submit a claim online or by mail. Those filing online generally need the Unique ID and PIN provided in their settlement notice.

The payment amount has not been fixed. Approved claimants will receive a pro rata cash payment based on the length of their eligible subscription.

When will settlement payments be issued?

Claimants will not receive payments immediately after submitting their forms. The settlement must first receive final approval from the court.

The final approval hearing is scheduled for January 14, 2027, at 9 a.m. The deadline to object to the settlement is December 1, 2026.

The official settlement website confirms that September 8 is the deadline to submit a claim, making Tuesday the final day for eligible subscribers to seek a payment from the settlement fund.
