BOSTON: The World Affairs Council of Boston hosted a private luncheon on June 22, bringing together New York Governor Kathy Hochul, Democratic Party leaders, diplomats, business executives and civic leaders for discussions on regional cooperation, economic development and global affairs.

The off-the-record roundtable focused on strengthening collaboration across the Northeastern United States, with participants discussing cross-state economic partnerships, national security challenges and civic engagement.

The event was hosted by Shahid Ahmed Khan, Director of the World Affairs Council of Boston.

Among the attendees were former United States Ambassador to Spain and Andorra Alan Solomont, Lieutenant General Chris Gabrielli, WorldBoston President Sarah Sibley, WorldBoston Chief Executive Officer Joe Haynes, Gilbert Winn, Peter Teng, Ping Chen, Manzar Khudadad, Mehreen Khudadad and Hadiya Ahmed.

According to the organisers, the gathering brought together representatives from government, diplomacy, academia and the private sector to exchange views on issues affecting the region and the broader international landscape.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahid Ahmed Khan said Governor Hochul’s participation highlighted the importance of cooperation between New York and Massachusetts in addressing shared challenges.

“Governor Hochul’s visit underscores the importance of partnership between New York and Massachusetts on the challenges we share, from economic growth to global security,” Khan said.

“Boston is a natural place for these conversations to happen,” he added.

The luncheon formed part of the World Affairs Council of Boston’s ongoing efforts to facilitate dialogue between policymakers, diplomatic representatives, business leaders and civil society on regional and international issues.

The meeting was held in Boston, Massachusetts, under the Chatham House Rule, with organisers describing it as a private policy discussion aimed at fostering cooperation on economic, security and civic priorities across the Northeastern United States.
