    What happened at Sorrento Beach?

Australia: Police are searching for a swimmer who went missing after a suspected shark attack at Sorrento Beach in Perth, Western Australia, on Friday. Emergency services were called to the scene at about 10:15 local time following reports of a shark-related incident.

Three St John Ambulance crews attended, while water police and the police air wing launched a search operation for the missing person. Authorities have not yet confirmed the swimmer’s identity or officially established the circumstances of the incident.

    What have witnesses reported?

Local media reported that witnesses saw a man being pulled underwater by a shark about 50 metres from the shore. Another witness reported seeing a pool of blood in the water following the incident.

Sorrento Beach has been closed to the public while the search continues. Authorities have urged people to stay away from the area as emergency crews conduct operations.
