ISLAMABAD, May 22: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will undertake an official visit to China from May 23 to 26 at the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, the Foreign Office said on Friday.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said during a weekly briefing that the prime minister will hold key meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang during the visit.

The premier is also scheduled to chair a Pakistan–China Business-to-Business Conference in Beijing and attend an official reception.

According to the spokesperson, the visit will focus on strengthening the Pakistan-China “all-weather strategic partnership” and advancing cooperation under a shared vision for a closer bilateral future. He said both sides will review relations across political, economic, and strategic domains.

Andrabi noted that Pakistan and China recently marked 75 years of diplomatic relations, describing the partnership as one that has consistently seen mutual support through decades of cooperation. He added that ties between the two countries have expanded beyond diplomacy into trade, industry, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a separate address in Islamabad on Thursday, said China has remained a steadfast partner for Pakistan “through thick and thin,” calling the relationship a source of national pride.

Separately, the government has announced the issuance of a commemorative Rs75 coin to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, which began on May 21, 1951. The coin will be available from May 25 at State Bank of Pakistan Banking Services Corporation field offices.
