TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday said US pressure had contributed to closer ties and increased interaction among Muslim countries, citing growing engagement between Iran and Pakistan, as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held talks with Iranian leadership in Tehran.
Pezeshkian, who met Naqvi during his visit to Iran, called for stronger bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, tourism, investment, culture and science. He said Iran and Pakistan could address many of their needs by combining their human and economic resources and promoting joint investment.

Naqvi said relations between Pakistan and Iran had reached their highest level, expressing Islamabad’s determination to further expand cooperation in trade, economy, tourism, politics, culture and science.
Earlier, Naqvi met Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni to review cooperation between the two countries’ interior ministries. Momeni thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for Pakistan’s efforts toward regional peace and stability.
What Role Is Pakistan Playing in Regional Diplomacy?
The meetings took place amid stalled US-Iran talks aimed at ending the conflict that began in February. Pakistan has continued diplomatic engagement with regional parties, seeking to reduce tensions and support efforts for regional peace.
Both sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in trade, energy and investment, while emphasizing greater communication and coordination between their institutions.
