Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, has directed the establishment of five additional FM radio stations to expand radio coverage across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He issued the instructions while chairing a meeting of the Information and Public Relations Department held on Monday. The meeting was attended by Secretary Information Matiullah Khan and other relevant officials.
Officials briefed the meeting on the performance, objectives, and operational scope of the existing FM radio stations, highlighting their role in promoting government initiatives, public awareness campaigns, and dissemination of official information.
Shafi Jan also directed authorities to enhance the transmission capacity of the existing 10 FM radio stations to ensure wider provincial coverage. He further instructed the installation of a modern, high-quality transmitter at Pakhtunkhwa Radio Peshawar.
In addition, he called for the early launch of a dedicated website and mobile application for the radio network to align it with modern digital communication platforms.
He noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains the only province with a structured community FM radio network, describing radio as an effective medium for public awareness, disaster communication, and outreach of government policies.
Shafi Jan emphasized strengthening radio broadcasting to ensure timely, reliable, and accessible information for the public while improving coordination with modern technological systems.
