Pakistan: Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Thursday said Pakistan’s security forces would continue operations against militant groups in Balochistan, reaffirming the military’s commitment to restoring lasting peace and countering what he described as foreign-sponsored proxies, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

What Did the Army Chief Say?

Addressing participants of the 20th National Workshop Balochistan at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, Field Marshal Munir said sustained efforts by the security forces and law enforcement agencies, supported by the public, would help bring lasting peace to the province.

According to the ISPR, the army chief said operations against Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan would continue until militant networks and their facilitators were dismantled.

He also said Pakistan remained committed to eliminating terrorist infrastructure wherever it threatened the country’s security and people.

Field Marshal Munir said foreign-backed proxies had sought to destabilize Balochistan by fueling violence, but added that such attempts would be met with a “firm and decisive response” backed by the armed forces and public support.

What Is the Current Security Situation?

The remarks came as security forces continued intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Mastung district, where security sources said six alleged Fitna al-Hindustan militants were killed and several others were arrested in the Khad Kocha area.

According to security sources, those detained included alleged facilitators as well as male and female suicide bombers.

During the session, Field Marshal Munir described Balochistan as the “pride of Pakistan,” highlighting its natural resources and the resilience of its people. He said ongoing federal and provincial development initiatives were aimed at improving the province’s socio-economic conditions through an inclusive approach.

The army chief also acknowledged the role of civil society, academia, media, and youth in promoting national cohesion and emphasized the importance of national unity in advancing Pakistan’s stability and development.

The interaction concluded with a question-and-answer session, with participants expressing support for efforts aimed at promoting peace, stability, and development in Balochistan, according to the ISPR.
