Asim Munir, Field Marshal and Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, has concluded an official visit to Iran, where he emphasised dialogue, de-escalation and the peaceful resolution of disputes amid ongoing regional tensions involving the United States.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations, the army chief was accompanied by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and a delegation during the visit, which included high-level engagements with Iranian leadership.

During the visit, Gen Munir called on Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and held separate meetings with Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Commander of Khatam-ul-Anbiya Headquarters Major General Ali Abdollahi.

Discussions focused on the evolving regional security environment, ongoing diplomatic efforts, and collaborative measures aimed at achieving long-term stability. The army chief underscored the need for sustained diplomatic engagement to resolve outstanding issues and promote peace.

He also conveyed goodwill messages from Pakistan’s leadership and people, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to strengthening longstanding ties with Tehran.

The military’s media wing said the visit reflected Pakistan’s continued efforts to support a negotiated settlement to the broader Middle East tensions and to promote regional stability.

Pakistan has recently played a role in facilitating dialogue between Washington and Tehran, including hosting talks in Islamabad, as part of efforts to sustain a temporary ceasefire and encourage further negotiations.

No official confirmation was provided regarding claims about foreign leaders’ remarks on the army chief.
