South Korea: President Lee Jae Myung said Friday that Seoul will not deploy troops or military assets in a way that could involve the country in the ongoing conflict related to the Iran war. Lee made the statement during a televised press conference, ruling out any deployment that could lead to South Korea entering the conflict.
Lee said South Korea must protect its citizens and national interests in the region but stressed that such activities would not involve participation in the war. The decision comes amid discussions over Seoul’s possible role in regional maritime security.

South Korea is considering strengthening measures to safeguard commercial shipping and crude-oil transportation through the Strait of Hormuz. Lee said the government was reviewing ways to expand its existing maritime security role while maintaining its position outside the conflict.
South Korea already operates the Cheonghae naval unit in the region as part of its maritime security and anti-piracy activities. Lee said any expanded role would focus on protecting South Korean nationals and commercial shipping rather than military involvement in the Iran conflict.
