Pakistan: Export receipts from Pakistani freelancers reached $352 million during July-August 2026, up 44% from $244 million recorded in the same period of 2025, according to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data cited by The News.
Freelancers providing IT-related services generated $212 million during the two-month period, while non-IT services contributed $139 million.
What is driving the growth in freelance exports?
Pakistan Freelancers Association (PAFLA) Chairperson Ibrahim Amin said Pakistani freelancers were expanding their presence on international freelancing platforms, with growing demand for skills including artificial intelligence tools and applications.
Amin also said an increasing number of freelancers were working through teams and agencies to offer multiple services on global platforms. He credited government, private-sector and non-governmental skills-development programmes with helping young people acquire market-oriented digital skills.
