How did security forces eliminate 10 militants in KP?
Pakistan: Security forces killed 10 militants in separate engagements across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between September 15 and 17, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
According to the military’s media wing, six militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan following reports of militant presence in the area. In a separate encounter in Hangu, four more militants were killed.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants, who, according to ISPR, were involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region. Sanitisation operations are underway to eliminate any remaining militants in the areas.
What happened to the security forces during the operations?
Six soldiers were martyred on September 17 after an improvised explosive device (IED) struck a security forces convoy, ISPR said.
The military said the counter-terrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam would continue at full pace, with the stated objective of eliminating foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
KP and Balochistan remain Pakistan’s primary hotspots for violence. A Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) report said the two provinces accounted for nearly 96% of violence-related fatalities in the second quarter of 2026, with KP recording 475 deaths and 151 violent incidents.
