Pakistan: Security forces killed five terrorists and rescued 23 hostages during an operation against a militant hideout near the N-25 highway in Kalat, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.
According to the military’s media wing, the terrorists had established a checkpoint on the highway to abduct passengers, extort money and seize vehicles. Security forces responded to the threat and killed five terrorists during the operation.
Vehicles, Weapons Recovered
Security forces recovered six trucks, three buses and two cars from the site, while weapons, ammunition and explosives were also seized, according to ISPR.
The operation was carried out amid intensified counterterrorism operations across Balochistan.
On Saturday, security sources said 11 terrorists were killed in separate operations in Panjgur and Chagai districts. Five were killed in Gowargo, Panjgur, while six were eliminated in Ameenabad and Siah Chang, Chagai. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered, the sources said.
10 Labourers Injured in Kharan IED Attack
Separately, 10 labourers were injured when terrorists targeted a passenger vehicle with an improvised explosive device on College Road in Kharan, security sources said.
Security forces reached the site and shifted the injured to hospital.
The latest operations follow a series of counterterrorism actions in Balochistan. On September 4, ISPR said security forces had killed 48 terrorists in multiple operations across the province over 48 to 72 hours.
Balochistan remains one of Pakistan’s main areas of militant activity, with security forces continuing intelligence-based and clearance operations against terrorist groups.
