Pakistan’s Foreign Office has strongly dismissed criticism from India regarding its military operations along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, calling the remarks “shamefully hypocritical” and reiterating that its actions are lawful and aimed at combating terrorism.
In an official statement, the Foreign Office responded to public statements made by Indian authorities condemning Pakistan’s ongoing military campaign targeting militant infrastructure across the border. Islamabad accused New Delhi of double standards by criticizing Pakistan’s counter‑terrorism efforts while overlooking similar security challenges within its own territory.
The statement emphasized that Pakistan’s security operations are focused on dismantling militant sanctuaries and support networks responsible for frequent cross‑border attacks on Pakistani soil, including drone incursions and armed assaults that security officials say have endangered civilians and security personnel.
Officials reiterated that Pakistan has repeatedly offered to engage in bilateral dialogue on border security issues but stated that such discussions have not progressed due to lack of cooperation from the other side.
The Foreign Office also highlighted that Pakistan’s actions are in accordance with national and international norms, asserting that it reserves the right to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity against external threats.
Islamabad’s response underscored that militant groups operating near the frontier pose a significant security challenge and that proactive operations are necessary to prevent attacks within Pakistan’s borders.
The office further urged regional partners to recognize the complex security environment and acknowledged calls from various stakeholders for restraint and diplomatic engagement to address underlying causes of instability.
