Islamabad: Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to coordinated diplomatic engagement aimed at promoting peace and stability in the Middle East amid ongoing regional tensions and shifting geopolitical dynamics.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during high-level talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the Great Hall of the People, emphasized the need for joint Pakistan–China efforts to support ceasefire initiatives and broader regional de-escalation. He thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping and Beijing’s leadership for backing Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives and expressed Islamabad’s full support for China’s four-point agenda focused on regional peace and stability.
The Prime Minister also noted that Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and China’s foreign minister had jointly presented a five-point framework to advance ceasefire-related efforts. He said the ongoing Middle East crisis has had wide-ranging economic implications, affecting global markets as well as Pakistan’s economy.
During the meeting, both sides held delegation-level discussions covering bilateral cooperation and regional developments. The Chinese leadership reiterated that Pakistan has played a constructive role in promoting regional stability and reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening long-standing bilateral relations.
Premier Li Qiang stated that upcoming high-level engagements would provide strategic direction for further deepening Pakistan–China ties. He also highlighted continued coordination between the two countries on regional diplomatic initiatives.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan–China relations, spanning 75 years of diplomatic engagement, are based on historic trust and shared development priorities. He also expressed condolences over the coal mine incident in China’s Shanxi province and conveyed solidarity with the affected families.
Referring to broader regional developments, the Prime Minister stated that Pakistan has played a facilitating role in diplomatic contacts between the United States and Iran. He noted that recent high-level engagements, including visits by senior Pakistani leadership to Tehran, contributed to ongoing dialogue efforts. He expressed cautious optimism that diplomatic progress is being made toward restoring regional stability.
Both sides concluded the meeting by reiterating their commitment to enhanced cooperation, particularly in economic partnership, regional security coordination, and sustained diplomatic engagement in conflict-prone areas.
