New York Cares has announced a volunteer initiative inspired by the recent wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, combining a back-to-school charity drive with fundraising efforts to support students across New York City.
According to the organization, the Eras Tour-themed backpack packing event will take place on July 30 at PS 20M Elementary School, where volunteers will pack 2,200 backpacks filled with school supplies for students preparing for the upcoming academic year.
The initiative follows charitable donations made by the newly married couple to the organization. Volunteers participating in either of the event’s two scheduled shifts will receive a limited-edition “JUST&T Married” enamel pin in recognition of their contribution.
What Does the Fundraising Campaign Include?
Alongside the volunteer event, New York Cares has launched a themed digital fundraising campaign encouraging public participation through symbolic donation amounts associated with the couple.
The organization aims to secure 198 individual donors, while suggested donation amounts include $13, reflecting Taylor Swift’s widely recognized lucky number, $26, and $87, the jersey number worn by Travis Kelce during his professional football career.
Organizers said the campaign seeks to combine community service with public engagement by encouraging volunteers and supporters to contribute to educational initiatives benefiting students across New York City.
