An Israeli drone strike in Gaza has killed Mohammed Wishah, further intensifying concerns over the safety of media personnel in the conflict zone.
The Qatar-based broadcaster Al Jazeera confirmed that Wishah was targeted west of Gaza City on Wednesday, marking the latest in a growing list of journalists killed since Israel’s military offensive began in October 2023.
With this incident, the number of Al Jazeera-affiliated journalists killed in Gaza has risen to 12, underscoring the mounting toll on press workers covering the war. Broader estimates indicate that at least 262 journalists have lost their lives in Gaza since the conflict erupted, one of the deadliest periods for media in modern history.
The killing comes despite a ceasefire arrangement reached in October 2025, which has repeatedly been undermined by continued violence. Reports suggest that more than 700 Palestinians have been killed in the enclave since the truce took effect, highlighting the fragile and deteriorating security situation on the ground.
The latest strike is likely to further fuel international scrutiny over the conduct of military operations in Gaza and the protection of civilians, including journalists operating in one of the world’s most dangerous conflict zones.
