Bannu Suicide Blast Leaves Civilians Dead as Counter-Terrorism Operations Continue in KP

A suicide attack outside a police station in Bannu’s Domail area resulted in the deaths of five civilians, including three women and a child, while four others sustained serious injuries, security sources confirmed. The attacker targeted civilians gathered near the police station but was stopped before reaching the intended target.

Rescue and security teams quickly reached the scene, where they began clearing debris, shifting the injured to hospitals, and conducting search operations in the affected area. Authorities described the attack as being carried out by militants linked to the Fitna al-Khawarij network.

The incident comes amid a wave of counter-terrorism operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where security forces have intensified actions against militant groups. According to military sources, 22 terrorists were killed in the province in the past two days during intelligence-based operations.

Officials stated that 13 militants were eliminated in operations targeting hideouts in Bara (Khyber District) and Bannu, while eight more militants were killed along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border in North Waziristan.

Authorities said the operations are part of ongoing efforts to eliminate militant networks and improve security in the region, where terrorist activity has increased in recent years.

Security officials also noted that Pakistan has been conducting sustained operations against cross-border militancy, leading to the destruction of multiple militant hideouts and significant losses to terrorist groups. Despite these efforts, sporadic attacks continue to pose a challenge, particularly in KP and nearby border areas.

The recent attack in Bannu highlights the continued threat to civilians and security forces, even as counter-terrorism operations continue across the region. Authorities have vowed to continue operations until militant threats are fully neutralized.
