Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held another phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday, highlighting the role of diplomacy and dialogue in managing regional issues, the Foreign Office (FO) said.

The FO stated that the two officials “reviewed regional developments and reaffirmed the need for ongoing engagement and close coordination.” This latest exchange is part of a series of discussions between Dar and Araghchi since the beginning of the year, aimed at maintaining steady diplomatic communication amid rising regional tensions.

Earlier in January, Dar had voiced concerns over the shifting regional situation during a phone call with Araghchi. On the same day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also spoke with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian to share perspectives on regional stability. Dar and Araghchi had also been in contact during Dar’s recent visit to Dubai.

Separately, FM Dar spoke with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, exchanging views on regional and global developments. The FO said both sides agreed to stay in close coordination on matters of mutual interest.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has highlighted Turkiye’s efforts to prevent tensions between the U.S. and Iran from escalating, particularly amid concerns over Tehran’s missile program and recent anti-government protests. While the U.S. has increased its naval presence near Iran, Turkiye has consistently opposed military action and had initially been slated to host U.S.-Iran talks in Istanbul, which were later shifted to Oman.
