Russia: Four logistics hubs operated by Russian online retailer Ozon were targeted in Ukrainian drone attacks in southern Russia on Monday, bringing the number of company facilities hit since August 22 to six, the company said.
Ozon said its logistics hub in Makhachkala, Dagestan, caught fire following a drone attack, with several people reportedly injured. Workers were evacuated from warehouses in Adygeysk and Nevinnomyssk, while a separate facility in Enem also suffered a major fire.
What Happened to Ozon’s Logistics Facilities?
Ozon said operations were halted at the Makhachkala facility following the attack. The company reported that its facility in Enem in the Krasnodar region also caught fire, while warehouses in Adygeya and Stavropol were not damaged.
The latest attacks follow an earlier strike on an Ozon logistics centre in Russia’s Samara region on August 22, which also forced the suspension of operations.
How Did the Drone Attacks Affect Ozon?
The attacks had an immediate impact on Ozon’s financial performance, with the company’s shares falling as much as 12% on the Moscow Exchange. Shares of AFK Sistema, Ozon’s major shareholder, fell by almost 13%.
Ozon is Russia’s second-largest online retailer after Wildberries and has become the second major Russian e-commerce company to have its logistics infrastructure targeted in Ukrainian drone attacks.
