Bilal Azhar Kayani expresses confidence ahead of second phase of AJK elections scheduled for August 2.

State Minister for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani on Friday said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would continue to support the right of Kashmiris to representation through refugee constituencies in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly.

Addressing election campaign meetings in Dina, Dhanyala, Kashmir Colony and Chotala, Kayani said the party remained committed to protecting the political rights of voters in refugee-seat constituencies.

The minister was campaigning for PML-N candidates Raja Siddique, contesting from LA-39 Jammu-VI, and Syed Shaukat Shah, contesting from LA-42 Valley-III, on the final day of campaigning for the second phase of the AJK elections.

What did Kayani say about refugee constituencies?

Kayani said PML-N would stand by refugee-seat voters and ensure their democratic representation in the AJK Assembly.

He expressed confidence that the party would perform strongly in the upcoming polls, claiming that people of Mirpur Division had shown support for PML-N.

The minister also criticised the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), alleging that governance issues in Karachi, including problems related to sewerage, water supply and road infrastructure, had worsened under its administration.

When and where will the AJK elections take place?

The second phase of the AJK Legislative Assembly elections is scheduled for August 2, with polling to be held in nine constituencies across Muzaffarabad Division and 12 refugee constituencies.

The constituencies cover three districts, Muzaffarabad, Neelum and Jhelum Valley. According to the AJK Election Commission, 208 candidates are contesting the nine seats in Muzaffarabad Division.

A total of 890,621 voters are registered in the division, including 427,955 male and 381,666 female voters.

The Election Commission has established 1,483 polling stations to facilitate voting across the three districts. Campaigning for the second phase ended at midnight on Friday.
