KARACHI: The Sui Southern Gas Company on Tuesday announced a special gas supply schedule for domestic and commercial consumers during the three days of Eid ul Adha.

According to the company, gas supply on the eve of Eid ul Adha, May 26, will remain available until midnight.

SSGC said uninterrupted gas supply on the first and second days of Eid, May 27 and May 28, will begin at 7:30am and continue until 12am.

However, on the third day of Eid, May 29, gas supply will remain available only until 10pm.

The company added that the regular gas supply schedule will resume from May 30, under which gas will be provided during designated meal timings.

Pakistan is set to observe Eid ul Adha on May 27 after the moon sighting was confirmed earlier this month by the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee.

Following the announcement, the federal government declared a three-day public holiday for Eid ul Adha from May 26 to May 28.

A notification issued by the Cabinet Division stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had approved the public holidays on the occasion of Eid ul Adha.

Eid ul Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command. The occasion is marked by Eid prayers, family gatherings, charitable activities and the ritual sacrifice of livestock, with meat distributed among relatives, friends and those in need.
