Yemen’s Houthi movement has stated that it is not neutral in the ongoing regional conflicts, reaffirming its support for Iran, Lebanon, and Palestine while condemning recent US actions in the Gulf of Oman.
In a statement reported by Al Jazeera, the Houthi foreign ministry accused the United States of “piracy” following reported interceptions of Iranian commercial vessels and the detention of their crews. The group said such actions violate international law and have contributed to global economic disruption by affecting supply chains and increasing food and fuel prices.
The statement also expressed support for Iran’s restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz, citing what it described as the right of states to self-defence and the regulation of navigation within their territorial waters in response to security threats.
The Houthis further declared that Yemen is “not neutral” regarding ongoing conflicts involving Iran, Lebanon, and Palestine, describing their position as “clear, public, and explicit.”
The remarks come amid heightened tensions in key maritime routes, including the Gulf of Oman and the Strait of Hormuz, which remain critical corridors for global energy shipments and international trade.
