Trump Media Reports $238 Million Quarterly Loss as Crypto Investments Weigh on Earnings

UNITED STATES: Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the company behind President Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform, reported a $238 million net loss for the second quarter of 2026, as losses linked to its cryptocurrency investments overshadowed strong revenue growth.

The quarterly loss was more than ten times higher than the figure reported during the same period last year. Despite the setback, the company posted $1.7 million in revenue, representing an 89% year-on-year increase, while ending the quarter with approximately $2 billion in total assets, including $1.9 billion in cash, short-term investments, and digital assets.

The results highlight the growing impact of Trump Media’s diversification strategy, which has expanded beyond social media into cryptocurrency holdings and other investment sectors. Analysts noted that much of the company’s financial losses stemmed from volatility in its digital asset portfolio.

Company Bets on New Services Despite Ongoing Financial Losses

Trump Media said it will continue focusing on expanding its social media business while developing new revenue streams. The company recently launched a premium subscription service offering faster access to selected posts on Truth Social, targeting investors seeking quicker access to market-moving announcements.

Interim Chief Executive Kevin McGurn said more than 10 customers have already subscribed to the new service, expressing confidence that it would become an additional source of revenue. However, the initiative has also drawn legal and ethical scrutiny because President Trump’s family remains the majority shareholder in the company while he frequently uses the platform to make public announcements.

Although Trump Media has yet to achieve profitability, the company says it remains committed to expanding its business across social media, digital assets, and other emerging investment sectors as it seeks to strengthen its long-term financial position.
