ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will host several international hockey teams and events over the next six months, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani said on Tuesday.
Speaking to Geo News, Wani said China will tour Pakistan in November 2026, following Korea’s visit, while Canada is expected to visit after the Chinese team. He added that three European teams are also prepared to tour Pakistan.
PHF Plans International Hockey Events
Wani said the planned visits would support the revival of international hockey activities in Pakistan.
The PHF president also said Pakistan plans to host a 10-nation international hockey event in December next year. A domestic hockey league is also planned as part of efforts to develop the sport in the country.
PHF Seeks Neutral Venue for Champions Trophy
Regarding the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, Wani said the decision to move the tournament from India to a neutral venue rests with the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF).
He said the PHF had formally requested the AHF to shift the tournament to a neutral venue but had not yet received a decision.
“We understand the rules and regulations that have to be followed in this matter, but we have made our position clear,” Wani said.
The PHF president said the federation would continue to pursue its position on the tournament while prioritising Pakistan’s interests in international hockey matters.
