Pakistan will face the Philippines on Tuesday in their second Group B match of the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup Division One at Bandung’s Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, seeking their first points after a 4-0 defeat to Thailand in their opening game.
The match is scheduled for 4pm local time in Bandung, or 2pm Pakistan Standard Time. Both Pakistan and the Philippines lost their opening Group B fixtures, with the Philippines going down 1-0 to Vietnam.
How did Pakistan start their campaign?
Pakistan were beaten 4-0 by Thailand on September 26, with Teerasak Poeiphimai scoring twice. Jude Soonsup-Bell scored once, while Pakistan conceded an own goal.
Pakistan held Thailand without a goal for around half an hour before conceding in the 31st minute. The team showed greater attacking intent after the break following three substitutions but failed to score.
What is at stake against the Philippines?
The Philippines also began the tournament with a defeat, losing 1-0 to Vietnam. The result leaves both teams seeking their first points in Group B.
The Philippines have several overseas-based players in their squad, with the tournament falling within the FIFA international window. The Philippine Football Federation said this allowed the team to call up players from clubs abroad.
Pakistan will conclude their Group B campaign against Vietnam on October 2.
