ZIARAT: At least nine police personnel were martyred and five others were abducted after heavily armed militants attacked a police checkpost in the Mangi area of Balochistan’s Ziarat district late Monday, police officials said.
According to Ziarat Superintendent of Police (SP) Abdul Qudoos, the attackers stormed the checkpoint, triggering an intense exchange of fire with security personnel.
How Did the Attack Unfold?
Police said the assailants launched a coordinated assault on the checkpost, leading to a gun battle that resulted in the deaths of nine policemen.
Following the attack, the militants reportedly abducted five police personnel before fleeing the area.
The bodies of the martyred officers were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for legal formalities.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack, describing it as an act carried out by “India-sponsored terrorists.”
He paid tribute to the martyred police personnel, expressing condolences to their families and praying for patience and strength during their bereavement.
“Those who sacrificed their lives for peace are the pride of our nation,” the interior minister said.
What Was the Government’s Response?
Naqvi said the sacrifices of the fallen officers would not be forgotten and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to combating terrorism.
He added that such attacks would not undermine Pakistan’s resolve to maintain peace and continue operations against militant groups.
Security forces have launched efforts to trace the abducted personnel and pursue those responsible for the attack.
