A military helicopter belonging to Qatar crashed after suffering a technical malfunction during a routine mission, the country’s Ministry of Defence said on Sunday.
According to an official statement, the aircraft went down in Qatar’s territorial waters while carrying out a scheduled operational task. Authorities said initial findings indicate the crash was caused by a technical fault, with no immediate evidence of foul play.
Search and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the site, and operations are currently underway to locate the crew and assess the situation. Officials have not yet disclosed how many personnel were on board the helicopter.
The Ministry of Defence has not confirmed any casualties so far.
An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the malfunction and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
