Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia amid ongoing regional tensions, following a high‑level meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah on Friday.
In discussions held late on 12 March 2026, the two leaders reviewed recent developments in the Middle East and agreed to continue close cooperation to promote peace and stability across the region, according to an official statement issued by the prime minister’s media wing.
Prime Minister Sharif conveyed respectful regards to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s longstanding support for Pakistan. Senior Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, were present during the talks.
“The Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s full solidarity and support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in these challenging times,” the official handout said, noting the depth of bilateral ties and shared interests in regional harmony.
The meeting comes as Pakistan has stepped up diplomatic engagement with Gulf counterparts following broader escalation in the Middle East. Officials said Islamabad would continue to coordinate closely with Riyadh on efforts aimed at reducing tensions and ensuring stability.
After the engagement in Jeddah, the prime minister returned to Pakistan.
