133 Killed in Pakistan’s Counter-Strike After Taliban’s Unprovoked Border Fire

Pakistan’s security forces have given an immediate and effective response to what the government describes as unprovoked fire by the Afghan Taliban regime along multiple points of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the Ministry of Information said in an official statement on Friday.

According to security sources, the confrontation intensified overnight after the Afghan Taliban opened fire across several sectors along the Pak-Afghan International Border. Pakistan’s security forces responded with coordinated military operations, including air and ground counter-strikes.

Officials said Pakistan Air Force jets targeted a major ammunition depot in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, destroying it as part of retaliatory action. In statements attributed to government spokespersons, at least 133 members of the Afghan Taliban regime were killed and more than 200 others wounded during the operations.

The information ministry said that 27 Taliban posts were destroyed and nine were captured during the engagements, and that Pakistani forces struck key enemy infrastructure, including brigade and battalion headquarters, ammunition depots, and logistics bases.

Addressing the situation, Mosharraf Zaidi, the Prime Minister’s spokesperson for foreign media, stated that Pakistan’s forces were acting with resolve to protect the nation’s territorial integrity and that no Pakistani posts had been captured or damaged amid the cross-border exchanges.

The ministry also accused the Afghan Taliban of spreading false videos and claims on social media following the clashes, describing them as misinformation.

The government said the operations followed what it described as “unprovoked action” by the Afghan Taliban, and emphasised that security forces would continue to take necessary measures to defend Pakistan’s borders and sovereignty.

There has been no independent verification of casualty figures or battlefield developments, and authorities in Kabul have not yet publicly responded to the latest Pakistani statements.
