South Africa’s women’s cricket team clinched the ICC Women’s Championship ODI series with a hard-fought 16-run victory over Pakistan at SuperSport Park, taking an unassailable 2‑0 lead with one match remaining. Despite Pakistan’s spirited chase, the hosts held their nerve to seal the series.

Batting first, South Africa got off to a solid start with Laura Wolvaardt (20) and Tasmin Brits (77) laying the foundation. Brits’ aggressive innings of 77 from 62 balls set the tone, while Sune Luus contributed a steady 57. Annerie Dercksen stole the spotlight, scoring 90 off 68 deliveries with six boundaries and four sixes. A late flourish by Nadine de Klerk, including a massive 90‑metre six, helped South Africa post a formidable 360 runs.

Pakistan began their chase poorly, losing two early wickets for 24 runs, but a 97-run third-wicket stand between Sadaf Shamas (61) and Ayesha Zafar (75) revived hopes. Fatima Sana added a quick 52 off 36 balls, bringing the target within reach. However, Pakistan’s resistance ended at 345 all out in the penultimate over, handing South Africa the series-clinching win.

The two sides will next meet in Durban for the final ODI on Sunday, where Pakistan will aim to avoid a series sweep and South Africa will seek a clean 3‑0 victory.
