What happened in the DR Congo plane crash?
KINSHASA: At least 17 people were killed when a Let 410 UVP aircraft crashed near Kenge in Kwango province, southwestern Democratic Republic of Congo, the transport ministry said.
The aircraft, operated by Tracep Congo Aviation, was carrying a delegation of military justice officials and was returning from a service mission to Kikwit in neighbouring Kwilu province.
The ministry said 13 passengers and four crew members died in the crash.
Who were among the victims?
Two senior military officials were among those killed: Lieutenant General Joseph Mutombo, first president of the High Military Court, and Lieutenant General Lucien-Rene Likulia, the armed forces’ auditor general.
Likulia had previously been involved in the prosecution of former president Joseph Kabila, who was sentenced to death in absentia by the High Military Court in September 2025.
