PARIS: Pakistan’s Khawaja Muhammad Zubair secured the Tekken 8 Esports World Cup 2026 championship after defeating South Korea’s LowHigh in a one-sided 5-0 grand final, claiming the biggest title of his esports career.
The Tekken 8 tournament, held from August 5 to 8, featured 32 of the world’s top competitors battling for the championship and a share of the prize pool. Zubair’s victory earned him $300,000 in prize money along with 1,000 Club Championship points.
Competing under the tag AG M. Zubair, the Pakistani star delivered a flawless performance in the final, not conceding a single game against the experienced South Korean veteran.
Zubair’s Remarkable Rise to the Tekken 8 World Title
Zubair’s triumph marks one of the most remarkable breakthrough stories in competitive Tekken. According to the Esports World Cup, he made his international debut only two months before the tournament but was eliminated during the pool stage.
He returned through the Last Chance Qualifier, secured a place in the main event, and completed an impressive title-winning run against some of the world’s strongest players.
During the tournament, Zubair defeated several elite competitors, including fellow Pakistani star Arslan Ash, before advancing to the grand final. Australia’s Yagami finished third, while Arslan Ash secured fourth place.
Pakistan Strengthens Global Tekken Dominance
The final standings saw Zubair finish first, followed by South Korea’s LowHigh in second place, Australia’s Yagami in third, and Pakistan’s Arslan Ash in fourth.
LowHigh received $130,000 in prize money, while Yagami earned $70,000 and Arslan Ash collected $50,000.
Zubair’s victory further reinforces Pakistan’s reputation as one of the world’s leading nations in competitive Tekken. Over recent years, Pakistani players have consistently challenged and defeated the world’s best, with stars such as Arslan Ash and Atif Butt helping establish the country’s dominance in the global fighting game community.
