Army Major Martyred, 12 Terrorists Killed in Intelligence-Based Operations in KP and Balochistan

RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan Army major was martyred while five terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Razmak, North Waziristan, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces launched the operation on the reported presence of militants belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij.

During the exchange of fire, Major Hafiz Ihsan Elahi, 34, a resident of Mianwali, embraced martyrdom while leading his troops from the front.

The ISPR said security forces killed five terrorists during the operation and recovered weapons and ammunition from the slain militants, who were allegedly involved in attacks against security forces, law enforcement personnel, and civilians.

A sanitisation operation is continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining militants, the statement added.

What Did the Nushki Operation Uncover?

In a separate intelligence-based operation conducted in Nushki district, Balochistan, security forces killed seven terrorists, including a suicide bomber, during the night between July 30 and 31, the ISPR said.

The military said the operation targeted a militant hideout linked to Fitna al Hindustan, where troops carried out what it described as a prompt surgical action, killing all seven militants.

Security forces also destroyed a cache of ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) recovered from the site.

The ISPR said follow-up sanitisation operations were underway to clear the area of any remaining militants.

The military reiterated its commitment to continuing counterterrorism operations under Azm-e-Istehkam, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, to eliminate militancy across the country.

Pakistan has witnessed an increase in militant violence, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, in recent years. According to the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), the two provinces accounted for the overwhelming majority of violence-related fatalities during the second quarter of 2026.
