LAS VEGAS: Pop superstar Taylor Swift went home empty-handed at the 2026 American Music Awards despite entering the ceremony as the most-nominated artist with eight nods.
The singer, who did not attend Monday night’s fan-voted awards show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, failed to extend her record 40 AMA wins.
Swift had been nominated in several top categories, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for The Life of a Showgirl and Song of the Year for The Fate of Ophelia.
Artist of the Year was won by BTS, while Song of the Year went to EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami for Golden, featured as the singing voices of KPop Demon Hunters.
Swift also lost the Song of the Summer category for Elizabeth Taylor, with BTS taking the award for SWIM.
Meanwhile, Sabrina Carpenter emerged as one of the night’s biggest winners, claiming Best Female Pop Artist and Best Pop Album for Man’s Best Friend.
In another major category, KATSEYE won Best Music Video for Gnarly, defeating Swift’s The Fate of Ophelia. The track Golden also secured the Best Pop Song award.
Although absent from the ceremony, Swift has remained in the public spotlight in recent weeks through several appearances with fiancé Travis Kelce. The couple were recently seen attending an NBA playoff game in Cleveland after multiple outings together in New York City.
