The White House has said US President Donald Trump “tested NATO and they failed” in responding to US-led actions against Iran, while also suggesting uncertainty over whether European allies will join a proposed naval blockade on Iranian ports.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News that European participation in the blockade remains unclear, saying “we’ll see” when asked about NATO involvement.
She added that, in Trump’s view, NATO had failed to join the United States in coordinated action, while asserting that US operations had “completely degraded” Iran’s military capability.
Leavitt also said Trump has drawn “very clear” red lines for Iran, stating that Tehran must not acquire a nuclear weapon and must surrender its enriched uranium stockpile.
Separately, Iran’s judiciary rejected Trump’s claims regarding the alleged execution of eight women, calling the remarks “false news.” The judiciary, through its Mizan Online outlet, said the women referenced by Trump had never been sentenced to death.
The response followed Trump’s social media post claiming Iran had reversed execution decisions linked to anti-government protests and thanking Tehran for the alleged move.
Iran dismissed the statement as misinformation, accusing Trump of fabricating claims for political effect amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran.
