US President Donald Trump has said he is “not satisfied” with Iran’s latest proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, signalling continued deadlock in diplomatic efforts.
The proposal, conveyed through mediators, comes amid a fragile ceasefire between the two sides, but key disagreements remain unresolved, particularly over Iran’s nuclear programme and conditions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump criticised the Iranian offer without detailing specific objections, describing Iran’s leadership as divided and suggesting the proposal failed to meet US expectations.
He reiterated that Washington is weighing both diplomatic and military options, stating that the situation could either be resolved through a deal or escalate further.
Despite the impasse, officials on both sides indicate that backchannel negotiations remain ongoing, with mediators continuing efforts to revive formal talks.
The conflict, which began earlier this year, has disrupted global energy markets and heightened tensions in the region, particularly around the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
