United States: Taylor Swift has publicly praised music legend Paul McCartney, highlighting his influence just days before releasing new material of her own.
The U.S. pop star posted on her Instagram Story on Tuesday night, sharing McCartney’s promotional post for his newly released album The Boys of Dungeon Lane. Alongside the post, Swift wrote: “Never not inspired by this eternally exceptional artist,” accompanied by a flexed-bicep emoji.
The tribute comes as Swift prepares to release her upcoming track I Knew It, I Knew You, which is featured on the Toy Story 5 soundtrack later this week.
McCartney and Swift share a long-standing mutual admiration. In a 2020 conversation on songwriting, McCartney had expressed interest in performing with Swift at Glastonbury, saying he had hoped to invite her before the festival was cancelled. Swift responded by asking whether she would have been invited, to which McCartney replied that he had been hoping she would ask him.
During the exchange, McCartney also referenced Swift’s hit song Shake It Off, joking about performing it together and noting its musical structure.
Over the years, the two artists have interacted on multiple occasions, including meeting at a Saturday Night Live afterparty and McCartney attending Swift’s Eras Tour concert in London.
The public message adds to ongoing cross-generational recognition between the two artists, as Swift continues preparations for her upcoming releases while acknowledging established figures in the music industry.
