ISLAMABAD: Syria’s Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani arrived in Islamabad on an official visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, with talks set to focus on bilateral relations and regional and international developments, the Foreign Office said.

Al-Shaibani, who arrived late Wednesday with a high-level Syrian delegation, was received at the airport by the Foreign Office’s Additional Secretary for the Middle East.

The Syrian foreign minister is visiting Pakistan from August 19 to 20. During his stay, the two sides are scheduled to hold detailed discussions covering the full spectrum of bilateral relations and explore avenues for expanding cooperation.

What will Pakistan and Syria discuss?

According to the Foreign Office, Pakistani and Syrian officials will review opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchange views on key regional and international developments.

The discussions are expected to cover areas of mutual interest as Islamabad and Damascus seek to deepen political and diplomatic engagement.

The Foreign Office described al-Shaibani’s visit as an important step towards further strengthening Pakistan-Syria relations and advancing cooperation between the two countries.

Who will the Syrian foreign minister meet in Islamabad?

Al-Shaibani is expected to hold meetings with senior Pakistani leadership and government officials during his stay in Islamabad.

The visit provides an opportunity for Pakistan and Syria to strengthen high-level political consultations and coordinate views on developments affecting the region and the wider international community.
