United States: Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand SKIMS is facing legal action in the United States after a former employee filed a lawsuit alleging wage and labour violations during his employment in California.
According to reports, former employee David Knight has filed a case claiming that SKIMS failed to properly compensate workers between October and December 2025, including allegations related to unpaid overtime and labour rights violations.
The lawsuit states that employees were allegedly required to work more than eight hours per day and over 40 hours per week but were not paid overtime wages as required under California labour law. Knight also alleges that workers were denied mandatory meal and rest breaks, which are legally protected under state regulations.
In addition, the filing claims that SKIMS failed to pay minimum wages for all hours worked and did not provide full and final wages upon termination of employment.
The lawsuit has placed renewed scrutiny on the operations of SKIMS, a billion-dollar shapewear and apparel company co-founded in 2019 by Kim Kardashian and entrepreneur Jens Grede, which has grown into one of the most prominent celebrity-driven fashion brands globally.
SKIMS has strongly denied the allegations. In a statement provided to TMZ, a company representative described the claims as unfounded, calling the lawsuit a “boilerplate filing” commonly used by plaintiffs’ firms in California to seek settlements.
The company said it has “no interest in settling claims without merit” and reaffirmed its commitment to complying with California wage and hour laws, adding that it intends to contest the allegations in court.
The legal filing also alleges broader systemic labour violations, while SKIMS maintains that its employment practices meet all legal requirements and that it will present its defence through the judicial process.
The case adds to growing legal and regulatory attention on labour practices within major fashion and retail brands operating in California, while SKIMS continues to expand its global presence in the competitive apparel market.
