Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed concern over an incident at the Khor Fakkan port in the United Arab Emirates, where falling debris from a missile interception injured three Pakistani nationals.
In a post on X, the prime minister said he was “deeply concerned” about the incident, noting that intercepted projectiles had caused injuries to civilians, including Pakistani citizens. He also prayed for the swift recovery of the injured and stated that Pakistan is in close contact with UAE authorities to provide assistance to its nationals.
Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and called for restraint and de-escalation in the region amid rising tensions linked to the ongoing US-Israeli–Iran conflict.
According to the Sharjah Media Office, the incident at Khor Fakkan port occurred after debris from intercepted missiles triggered a fire at the site. Emergency response teams brought the blaze under control, with cooling operations carried out subsequently.
The statement added that three Pakistani nationals sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate, while a Nepalese national suffered serious injuries and was transferred to hospital for treatment.
The latest incident comes amid a broader pattern of regional spillover, with Gulf countries facing security risks due to missile activity associated with the ongoing conflict. Reports also indicate that several Pakistani nationals have been affected in similar incidents in the UAE in recent days.
