Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday called for an immediate end to hostilities in the Middle East and a return to normalcy during a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as regional tensions continue to escalate.
According to official statements, the premier expressed concern over the rapidly deteriorating security situation following recent military exchanges involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. He stressed the need for restraint and urged all parties to prioritise dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further escalation.
Pakistan reaffirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia, with Sharif emphasizing Islamabad’s commitment to regional peace and stability. He underscored that continued conflict risks widening instability across the Gulf and beyond.
The call comes amid heightened tensions triggered by US and Israeli strikes on Iran, followed by retaliatory missile attacks targeting multiple Gulf states. Several countries in the region have reported air defence activity and casualties as the situation intensifies.
Sharif also reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to play a constructive role in facilitating diplomatic efforts, aligning with Islamabad’s broader push for mediation between Washington and Tehran.
The latest outreach reflects Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic engagement with key regional actors as it seeks to position itself as a stabilising force during one of the most volatile phases in recent Middle Eastern geopolitics.
