As election looms, more than half think lower tax won’t help against inflation

TOKYO — Public support for Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s government has fallen below 70% for the first time since she took office last October, a weekend poll by Nikkei and TV Tokyo shows, as she is set to lead her party into an election on a tax cut pledge.
