Pakistan: Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to encouraging the United States and Iran to resume dialogue under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), despite renewed military escalation between the two countries. Speaking at a weekly briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said Pakistan remains engaged in diplomatic efforts to promote de-escalation and stressed that negotiations remain the best path to resolving the crisis.

Andrabi said Islamabad is closely monitoring developments and hopes for the early normalisation of the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. He warned that continued hostilities threaten global energy supplies, trade, food security, and economic stability, while reiterating Pakistan’s support for technical-level talks under the June 17 Islamabad MoU.

The Foreign Office said Pakistan will continue facilitating humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan through the United Nations and partner organisations but maintained that progress in bilateral relations depends on Afghanistan addressing Pakistan’s security concerns regarding terrorism. Andrabi also condemned recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan and reiterated Pakistan’s position that terrorism against civilians is unacceptable under any circumstances.
