Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing, according to China’s state-run Xinhua news agency and Iranian media reports.
Araghchi arrived in the Chinese capital on Wednesday morning, as confirmed by Iran’s Tasnim and Fars news agencies. He is leading a diplomatic delegation for discussions focused on bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.
According to Fars News Agency, the Iranian foreign minister is expected to review key strategic and geopolitical issues with his Chinese counterpart, though no official details of the meeting’s outcome were immediately released by Chinese authorities.
The visit comes at a sensitive diplomatic moment, ahead of a scheduled trip by US President Donald Trump to China on May 14–15 for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The visit was reportedly delayed following recent US and Israeli military actions against Iran, adding to heightened regional tensions.
Araghchi’s Beijing engagement underscores Tehran’s ongoing diplomatic outreach to major global powers amid shifting alignments in Middle East and international politics.
