Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir has reaffirmed that terrorists operating from sanctuaries inside Afghanistan will not be allowed to undermine Pakistan’s security, according to a statement released by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The army chief made these remarks during his visit to Kurram district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where he spent Eidul Fitr with frontline troops and officers. He offered Eid prayers alongside soldiers and commended their professionalism, resilience, and sacrifices in ongoing counterterrorism operations.
Field Marshal Munir expressed pride in the armed forces for their continued efforts in safeguarding the country against internal and external threats. He also prayed for Pakistan’s stability, prosperity, and national unity.
The CDF emphasized that elements using Afghan territory to launch attacks against Pakistan pose a serious threat and will be dealt with firmly. His statement comes amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan over cross-border militancy and the presence of outlawed groups.
Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Afghan interim government to take decisive action against militant groups allegedly operating from its soil. However, Kabul has denied such allegations, contributing to ongoing diplomatic strain between the two neighboring countries.
