Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam delivered a record-equalling performance on Tuesday, scoring a blistering century against Islamabad United in the Qualifier of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the National Bank Stadium.
Babar struck 103 runs off 59 balls, including 12 fours and four sixes, to power Zalmi to a commanding total of 221/7 in their 20 overs. His innings marked his second century of the ongoing season, making him only the second batter in PSL history to score two hundreds in a single edition.
With this knock, Babar also claimed his fourth PSL century overall, equalling the league record for most centuries. He now stands alongside former record-holder Usman Khan, while also surpassing several leading players in the format’s history.
Most PSL Centuries:
Usman Khan – 4 (35 innings)
Babar Azam – 4 (110 innings)
Kamran Akmal – 3 (74 innings)
Rilee Rossouw – 3 (98 innings)
Fakhar Zaman – 3 (105 innings)
The innings also saw Babar equal Fakhar Zaman’s record for most runs in a single PSL season. Fakhar had scored 588 runs in PSL 7, while Babar reached the same milestone in just 10 innings in the ongoing season, maintaining an impressive average of 98.00 and a strike rate of 146.63. His season tally now includes two centuries and three half-centuries.
The performance further strengthens Babar’s standing as one of the most consistent batters in the league’s history, particularly in high-pressure knockout matches.
