Subheading: PNS Hunain and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency launch coordinated emergency operation after distress call, safely evacuating all crew members from flooded vessel.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy, in coordination with the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), successfully rescued all 20 Pakistani crew members from a sinking cargo dhow off the coast of Ormara after the vessel suffered severe flooding, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the rescue operation was launched immediately after the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre received a distress call from the vessel, which was operating east of Ormara in the Arabian Sea.

How was the rescue operation carried out?

The Pakistan Navy swiftly diverted PNS Hunain, along with the required aerial assets, to the scene of the emergency as part of a coordinated search and rescue mission.

The operation resulted in the safe evacuation of all 20 crew members from the distressed cargo dhow before it sank, with rescuers successfully overcoming challenging maritime conditions.

What happened to the rescued crew?

The ISPR said all rescued personnel were safely recovered and are receiving the necessary medical attention following the operation.

No casualties were reported during the rescue mission.

What did the Pakistan Navy say?

The military’s media wing said the successful operation reflected the Pakistan Navy’s and PMSA’s professionalism, operational preparedness and ability to respond rapidly to maritime emergencies.

It added that the rescue highlights the Navy’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives at sea and maintaining round-the-clock readiness to respond to distress situations in Pakistan’s maritime domain.
