Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, the 38-year-old reality TV star known from MTV’s Jersey Shore franchise, has revealed she has been diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer, which was caught early after a recent medical procedure confirmed the condition.
In a candid video shared on TikTok, recorded between doctor appointments, Snooki told her millions of followers that her cone biopsy results showed stage 1 cervical cancer called adenocarcinoma, a form of the disease that starts in glandular cells of the cervix. She described the news as “not the news that I was hoping for, but also not the worst news” because it was detected early.
The reality star explained she had previously received abnormal Pap smear results over several years, which prompted further testing. She urged her followers, especially women, not to delay medical check-ups. “Get your appointments done,” she said, stressing that early detection can make treatment more effective and help avoid more intensive therapies.
Snooki has scheduled a PET scan to determine whether the cancer has spread and said she’ll likely undergo a hysterectomy, a surgical removal of the uterus and cervix, depending on the results. Doctors have indicated this may be the most effective course of treatment while allowing her to keep her ovaries.
Despite the unexpected health challenge, she shared a hopeful message with fans, saying she is grateful the cancer was caught at an early stage and that she is approaching the diagnosis with determination. She also used her announcement as a chance to raise awareness about the importance of routine cervical cancer screenings.
Snooki rose to fame on Jersey Shore, which debuted in 2009, and later appeared in spin-offs including Snooki & JWoww and Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. She is married to Jionni LaValle, and the couple has three children.
