Ryan Coogler’s Sinners emerged as the biggest winner at the 2026 Actor Awards on Sunday, sweeping top honours and strengthening its position as a frontrunner for the upcoming 98th Academy Awards. The ceremony, formerly known as the SAG Awards and held at the Shrine Auditorium, recognised outstanding performances in film and television as voted by members of SAG‑AFTRA.
The supernatural thriller Sinners captured the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture award and saw Michael B. Jordan take home Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his dual portrayal of twin brothers in the film. The wins marked a significant moment in Jordan’s career and underlined Sinners as a strong contender in the awards season.
In the female categories, Jessie Buckley won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her work in Hamnet, while Sean Penn and Amy Madigan secured the supporting acting honours for One Battle After Another and Weapons, respectively.
The Studio led the television comedy categories, with ensemble and individual wins highlighting its comedic appeal, while drama series honours included The Pitt and performances by actors such as Keri Russell and Noah Wyle.
Veteran actor Harrison Ford was honoured with the Life Achievement Award in recognition of his decades‑long contributions to film and television, prompting a standing ovation from his peers.
Awards season analysts say the results offer early indicators for the Oscars, with Sinners and its leading performers now widely viewed as strong contenders heading into the March 15 Academy Awards ceremony.
